Need help getting started with discovering your family history or unravelling a tricky research issue? Come to the FREE Family History Workshops at Noosa Library:

BRANCH OUT! INTRODUCTION TO FAMILY HISTORY
Always wanted to find out more about your family history? Join our family history experts for an introductory presentation on searching for your ancestors and discovering their stories. Get tips on how to get started with print and on-line resources and learn the ‘Golden rules of Genealogy’. Presented in conjunction with Cooroy-Noosa? Genealogical and Historical Society, this workshop will launch you into one of the most popular pastimes in the world.

STUMPED! GOT BRICKWALLS IN YOUR FAMILY TREE??
Have you got an ancestor that you just can’t find in your family tree or some other family history dilemma that has you stumped?
Bring your problem, big or small, to our workshop and ask members of the Cooroy-Noosa? Genealogical and Historical Society what to try or where to go next and see if you can shake some of those bricks loose.
These are drop in sessions, so please be patient if our experts are helping someone else when you arrive.

About Noosawiki

This site has been created to allow people from the Noosa Shire and beyond to contribute their own stories, images and knowledge of the Shire's history and heritage.

You are encouraged to contribute your stories, memories, and recollections of any aspect of Noosa's heritage - your own family history or the stories of others who have played a role in our Shire, historical eras and places, hobbies and pastimes, industries and livelihoods, built heritage or oral histories. All stories are more interesting with pictures, so please, dig out your old photos, scan them and add include them with your contributions.

In creating this site, Noosawiki acknowledges the original owners of the land on which Noosa has been built.


Getting Started

In order to contribute stories, you will need to register as user by clicking on the link in the top left corner of the page. We do not ask for any personal information other than a valid email address. During the introductory phase of the wiki, a passcode is required to complete the registration process. Please Contact Us for full details.

Once you have registered, please read through the Contributors Instructions to assist you in getting started.

We hope that everyone will exercise common sense in participating in the wiki and you are encouraged to review the Policy and Guidelines for more information on wiki etiquette.


Above: The town of Tewantin in the 1930's. The first bridge joining Tewantin and Noosaville over Lake Doonella was constructed in 1929, allowing easier access to the growing popularity of the Noosa River and Noosa Heads as holiday destinations.



By the 1930's Noosa Main Beach and Hastings Street was lined with large timber guesthouses for visitors from Gympie, Brisbane and beyond, coming to enjoy the picturesque beaches and headland.
