About Noosawiki
This site has been created to allow people from the Noosa Shire and beyond to contribute their own stories, images and knowledge of the Shire's history and heritage.
You are encouraged to contribute your stories, memories, and recollections of any aspect of Noosa's heritage - your own family history or the stories of others who have played a role in our Shire, historical eras and places, hobbies and pastimes, industries and livelihoods, built heritage or oral histories. All stories are more interesting with pictures, so please, dig out your old photos, scan them and add include them with your contributions.
In creating this site, Noosawiki acknowledges the original owners of the land on which Noosa has been built.

Above: The town of Tewantin in the 1930's. The first bridge joining Tewantin and Noosaville over Lake Doonella was constructed in 1929, allowing easier access to the growing popularity of the Noosa River and Noosa Heads as holiday destinations.
By the 1930's Noosa Main Beach and Hastings Street was lined with large timber guesthouses for visitors from Gympie, Brisbane and beyond, coming to enjoy the picturesque beaches and headland.
